In Dry Claw Vacuum Pumps, the two clawed shaped rotors play a major role. These two rotors move in opposite directions inside the pump. 

The shape of the claws governs the suction process. Due to the rotation, the air or gas is sucked in, compressed and then discharged. 

The most intriguing feature of the Dry Claw Vacuum pump is that the two claws never contact each other, nor do they do with the cylinder. This tight clearance ensures that the vacuum pump operates consistently at higher speeds.

In a Liquid Ring Vacuum pump, water is the operating medium. An impeller installed in the casing rotates in a partially filled surrounding.

The rotation of the impeller causes the liquid to rotate as well. This creates a liquid ring inside the casing.

The gas penetrates through the liquid ring and the eccentric installation of the impeller enlarges the spaces. 

Now, the impeller further rotates to compress the gas and finally discharge it. 

Applications

Liquid Ring Vacuum pumps provide process vacuum in chemical, environmental, food and beverage processing and packaging, marine, electrical, and mining industries.

It is also used in textile industries, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, paper and pulp industries.  

 

  1. Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump

 

 

The centrifugal force governs the working principle of a Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump. It works on the positive displacement pumping principle. 

It consists of a rotor with several vanes(as evident from the figure) that is eccentrically mounted inside the cylindrical housing. The centrifugal force causes the vanes to slide out, consequently forming chambers.

Now, the pumped medium is trapped in this chamber, and with further rotation, it is compressed in volume. The compressed medium is discharged to the outlet.

Rotary Vane Vacuum pumps are operated with different types of lubrication system.

Applications:

Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps are generally used in automobiles. It includes supercharging, power-steering, air-conditioning and automatic transmission pumps.

Dry Screw Vacuum pumps contain two screw rotors rotating in opposite directions. The rotation traps the pumped medium between the screw chambers and the cylindrical housing.  

The trapped medium is transported to the gas discharge. 

The advanced screw design results in lower electric energy consumption and consequently, increases the hydrogen pumping capabilities.

Dry Screw Vacuum pumps require no sealing or lubrication in the vacuum process. Also, they eliminate waste generation and pollution.
